This course will provide new instructors with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective NTC training.

Prerequisites for Attendance: 
Application and participation in the Instructor Development Program are open to individuals currently employed by FMCSA or a participating Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement (CMVE) state program. Applicant must have and maintain current certification per FMCSA Certification Policy for Employees Who Perform Inspections, Investigations, and Safety Audits, amended August 2021, in the areas in which they instruct. Applicant must submit: An application that provides documentation of successful completion of the NTC course(s) in which certification is sought • a resume demonstrating a minimum of 2 years of professional experience relevant to the course • Successful completion of the Instructor Qualification Examination for the course in which certification is sought.
Objective: 
The course is designed to prepare participants to teach and will focus on: • Approved methodologies and techniques. • Course delivery with emphasis on uniformity, integrity and quality of instruction. • The five steps in the ISD system • Behavioral learning outcomes • Forms of interactivity and positive interpersonal skills • Training techniques • Three styles of learning • Application of adult learning through recorded training sessions.
Post Requirements: 
Upon completion of the course, candidates must complete the following requirements: Maintain current certification per FMCSA Certification Policy for Employees Who Perform Inspections, Investigations, and Safety Audits, amended August 2021, in the areas in which they instruct. Pass a Field Evaluation by a Master Instructor with in a six month period upon course completion • Each calendar year instructors are required to deliver a minimum of two (2) NTC course administrations and participate in all mandatory Instructor training, webinar, and development activities • Preceding two calendars years, instructors shall not receive Documentable Negative Feedback (DNF) higher than 25% • receive a passing score on most recent field evaluation, • successfully complete an Instructor Qualification Exam for each certified NTC course • and participate in a minimum of two continuing development activities Instructor Development | FMCSA National Training Center (dot.gov)
