General Hazardous Materials (GHM)

Hazmat 101

This course focuses on inspecting hazardous materials (HM) shipments for compliance with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), both at roadside and at a carrier's or shipper's place of business. Participants will learn the laws and organizations responsible for regulating HM transportation and will practice the job functions related to HM regulation.

Upon completion of this course, participants will have a basic knowledge of the FMCSA/CVSA HM Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) and understand the operational use of the Hazardous Materials Table (HMT) (§172.01) and shipping paper and placarding requirements.

Safety investigators or inspectors employed by the federal government

Successful completion of the NAS-A and NAS-B courses
