    Description

    Commercial Motor Vehicle Criminal Interdiction for Law Enforcement

    Objective

    The primary purpose of the course, Commercial Motor Vehicle Criminal Interdiction for Law
    Enforcement (CMVCI-LE), is to prepare general-duty federal, state, and local law enforcement officials
    to perform their required duties safely while interdicting commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in transit
    that are involved in ongoing criminal activity. CMVCI-LE training will result in the identification and
    removal of in-transit criminals operating CMVs, increased officer awareness and safety, increased
    national security, and improved traffic safety on the nation’s highways.

    Target Audience

    All participants are sworn law enforcement or regulatory commercial vehicle safety officials. Many have
    little to no experience, knowledge, or specialized training regarding commercial vehicles or criminal
    interdiction. Participants’ professional knowledge ranges from entry-level to experienced veterans.

    Post Requirements

    Instructors must have access to computers capable of running Microsoft Office applications and the
    necessary audio/visual output hardware. The instructor must have a wireless mouse or clicker to advance
    PowerPoint slides when not standing by the PC. A portable projector and speakers will be required if the
    classroom is not equipped with built-in equipment.
    Laptops or PCs should include the latest updates to the DOT/FMCSA or State software as appropriate. At
    a minimum, laptops or PCs should use Microsoft Windows with pop-up blockers turned off and only the
    necessary JavaScript components enabled. Instructors will be generally proficient in using Microsoft
    Office products.
